Progression Guide: Engraving System

The Engraving System, also known as Carving, is one of the most important ways to add extra attributes to character equipment in The Classic PW 1.8.7.

Through engravings, players add new bonuses to items such as weapons, helmets, cloaks, ornaments, necklaces, and rings, significantly increasing the character's power without relying solely on refinement, stones, or the item's original attributes.

In this guide, you will understand how the system works, what materials are needed, where to obtain them, and how many attributes each piece of equipment can receive.

How the system works

To create an engraving, you just need the necessary material and the compatible equipment. The process is done at specific NPCs, such as Wang Cai and the Trade Administrator (near the Bankers in the main cities), through the “Advanced Engraving” option.

The generated attributes are random: the player does not choose which bonuses will be created, but can view all possibilities before engraving by hovering over the desired option.

  • Select the compatible equipment and the type of engraving;
  • Provide the necessary material and click Start Engraving;
  • The system generates new random attributes for the item;
  • You choose between keeping the old attributes or taking the new ones;
  • If no option is chosen within 30 seconds, the old attributes are automatically kept.

Important: it is not possible to keep only part of the attributes. The choice is always between all new or all old. Therefore, evaluate carefully before confirming each attempt.

Spirit of Engraving Spirit of Engraving: the main material

The central material of the system is the Spirit of Engraving Spirit of Engraving , the "engraving stone" of the game. It functions as a universal currency for engraving: with it, you can forge advanced engravings on all types of compatible equipment.

With the Spirit of Engraving Spirit of Engraving in hand, just go to one of the engraving NPCs, choose the Advanced Engraving option, select the tab for the desired equipment, and start the engraving.

The NPCs that accept the Spirit of Engraving are: Wang Cai, Trade Administrator, Royal Knight Hector, Cauldron of Contemplation, and War Forge (clan).

Where to get the Spirit of Engraving

In The Classic PW 1.8.7, the Spirit of Engraving Spirit of Engraving is primarily obtained through two systems:

  • Fortune Palette: a system where the player uses Gold to spin the palette and obtain rewards, including the Spirit of Engraving. It is the path for those who prefer to invest Gold in progression;
  • Treasure System: a system where the player obtains rewards by farming in the game. It is the path for those who prefer to earn engravings through gameplay.

With these two routes, all player profiles can progress in engravings: those who invest, through the Palette, and those who farm, through the Treasure System. Additionally, the Spirit of Engraving can be traded among players, making it a good purchase option for those accumulating coins.

Items that can receive engraving

The equipment compatible with the Engraving System includes:

  • Weapon;
  • Helmet;
  • Cloak;
  • Ornament;
  • Necklace;
  • Rings.

Armor pieces (torso, leggings, boots, and bracelets) are not part of the engraving system: they are strengthened by other systems, such as refinement and stones.

Number of attributes per item

The number of attributes granted by the engraving varies according to the type of equipment:

  • Weapon: receives advanced engravings with random attributes, being one of the most valuable engravings for character damage;
  • Helmet: receives 2 random attributes per engraving;
  • Cloak: receives 2 to 3 random attributes, with an 85% chance of 2 attributes and a 15% chance of 3 attributes;
  • Ornament: receives 2 to 3 random attributes, with the same chances as the cloak;
  • Necklace: receives advanced engravings of up to 3 attributes;
  • Rings: receive advanced engravings of 2 or 3 attributes.

Advanced engravings for helmets, cloaks, and ornaments require equipment of level 13 or higher. The cost in Spirits of Engraving varies according to the type of equipment and the level of the chosen engraving: initial engravings cost a few units, while more advanced engravings require thousands of Spirits per attempt. The rarer the equipment, the more valuable a good engraving becomes.

Types of attributes

Engravings can generate various types of bonuses, and it is precisely this variety that makes the system a tool for optimizing builds:

  • Offensive attributes, such as increased damage and Attack Level;
  • Defensive attributes, such as defense, HP, and Defense Level;
  • Main attributes: Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Constitution;
  • Utility attributes, such as Hit and Dodge.

Since the results are random, players can engrave the same item multiple times in search of the ideal combination for their class. This is where the importance of accumulating a lot of Spirit of Engraving comes in: the more attempts, the greater the chance of achieving perfect attributes.

Tips and precautions

  • Before engraving, check if the selected equipment is correct;
  • Carefully compare the old attributes and the new ones before choosing: a new attempt will not always be better;
  • Prioritize engraving the definitive equipment of your build, avoiding wasting materials on temporary items;
  • Look for attributes that match your class's role: damage for offensive classes, defense and HP for tanks and supports;
  • Accumulate Spirits of Engraving in the Fortune Palette and the Treasure System before starting a sequence of attempts.

Summary

  • The Engraving System adds extra attributes to equipment;
  • The main material is the Spirit of Engraving Spirit of Engraving , which serves as a universal currency for engraving;
  • It is primarily obtained from the Fortune Palette (with Gold) and the Treasure System (farming in the game);
